And Finally…
People with mental health problems will present their families with problems they have never come across before. Unfortunately this is a result of their illness. The illness is no-one's fault - not yours, not theirs. Mental health problems are very common and can affect anyone. As a carer you may feel that you simply cannot cope. But there are people who are trained in the field of mental health who can help and treat the illness. It is important to get in touch with these people as soon as possible about the illness and have the confidence to ask for more information or seek help when things are getting too much for you. One of the worst positions to be in is not knowing what is happening or who to talk to. This website can only give a general outline of mental illness. There follows a list of important addresses and phone numbers of organisations which can help you find out more. Some of these organisation may have an answer machine operating because the workers are sometimes out visiting clients. No-one really likes talking to a machine, but if you would like someone to call you back it is worth remembering to leave your name, telephone number and a time when you can be contacted.
